Case Study: Brose — stable line deliveries thanks to AGVs
The Brose AGV deployment is another example of transport automation at a family-owned automotive giant — a mechatronics manufacturer whose components go into every second new car in the world. The project concerned the automation of repetitive internal flows using an AGV robot.
Context: mechatronics at automotive takt
Brose produces, among other things, door systems, seat systems and electric drives — components assembled in high volumes, with a short takt and stringent quality requirements. Internal logistics in such plants relies on frequent, regular deliveries of containers and pallets to assembly cells.
The transport challenge
The shorter the line takt, the more noticeable the fluctuations of manual transport become: a late delivery of components stops assembly, while excess stock at the line takes up valuable space. The aim of the project was to stabilise deliveries through predictable, autonomous transport on fixed loops.
The Myzer solution
For Brose, we prepared a transport project based on an AGV robot selected to suit the customer's load carriers and routes. The scope included:
- mapping the transport loops and the pick-up and set-down points,
- selecting the robot for the type of load and the required towing capacity,
- right-of-way and safety rules in zones shared with people,
- a concept for expanding the fleet as the number of routes served grows.
The full case study with data — coming soon to the Academy. You will find the Myzer family of transport robots in the AGV and AMR robots category.
